Supervisory Electronics Engineer (0855)
DutiesDirects and evaluates the work of the Division.
Uses engineering expertise to plan, direct and supervise the conduct of equipment authorization related activities of the Division, including establishing goals and objectives for these activities.
Responsible for developing Division goals and objectives and implementing policies and procedures in coordination with the Deputy and Branch Chiefs.
Reviews documents for regulatory sufficiency, technical accuracy and policy implications.
Examines proposals for new or modified rules and regulations and recommends and defends Division and/or Office positions.
Provides expert advice on policy and rules related to equipment authorization and compliance issues, technical and engineering standards concerning various FCC rules, in particular Parts 2, 15 and 18.
Develops and supports policies to promote innovation and to ensure efficient use of the radio frequency spectrum.
Develops or adapts test methodologies for assessing compliance of new technologies and devices with the Commission's RF exposure limits.
Represents the Office and the Commission in negotiations with representatives of other countries with respect to technical standards and equipment authorization matters.
Oversees preparation of the Division's KDB guidance publications, technical rules interpretations and stakeholder presentations.
Researches technical standards, technology developments test procedures, and regulations.
Plans, directs and supervises the conduct of special and highly complex projects of major technological issues with policy and regulatory significance.
Works on projects for which there is little in the way of existing precedent; for which existing precedent is not clearly analogous; or that involve disagreements among different parties and government agencies that have arisen within multiple dockets over a long period of time.
Oversees and provides guidance to the Telecommunications Certification Bodies regarding the equipment approval process.
Oversees/manages all Contracting Officer Representatives (CORs) in the division to ensure the proper management of lab resources and adherence to federal acquisition regulations.
Develops requirements and oversees the electronic Equipment Authorization System.
Supports OET Continuity of Operation Plan (COOP) activities, including devolution scenarios, in the event of natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and other man-made disasters.
Performs other duties as assigned.
